Sometimes we feel that we are stuck in loneliness, encumbered with challenges that we do not know how to deal with, disabled by beliefs that no longer serve our own well-being and happiness. Being free is being free of the traps that old beliefs and conditioned habits create in our lives. We most often see things as we expect or want to see them rather than how they are if we had the awareness to see more clearly.  With this freedom we can choose to see things in a way that supports us and nurtures us.

When we see our lives as they really are, when we come to accept the beauty and love that is already there, we come to understand that it is not necessary to suffer. We lift off the fog that we are enveloped in from past beliefs. We see not only what really is, but we see it with love and compassion, for ourselves and for others.

I see my role as catalyst, mentor, counsel and support. I offer unconditional acceptance for you and your story. All of our stories are real, legitimate and valued. Our stories provide us with guidance and insight about who we are.  We can learn to re-tell the same stories with a beautiful, loving ending. I try to incorporate a variety of theoretically supported pathways and tools to guide us through your journey. Sometimes I employ narrative therapy techniques: I always follow the Rogerian philosophy of unconditional positive regard, authenticity and empathy. I occasionally will utilize tools and approaches of art therapy.  My training is not as an art therapist,  but I have studied some expressive arts therapy in my training. I will also use some cognitive behaviour therapy CBT strategies as well. And throughout my practice I employ the EMDR protocols for any issues of trauma including complex trauma of childhood abuse and neglect, peri- and post natal trauma, MVA and traumatic experiences and witnessing, smaller “t” traumas experienced by children and adults in their childhood, and PTSD based on other significant traumas.  I may also use EMDR when working on other emotionally difficult life events because EMDR can be a pathway of healing.

    • Counselling can be for any reason. I do not limit my practice to those with needs in the following areas, but these are often concerns I see:
  • Life transitions, anxiety, loss and grief, depression.
  • Trauma, big or small, past or recent.
  • Spiritual support and growth.
  • Awareness and self discovery.

A Cushion For Your Head:
Just sit there right now
Don’t do a thing Just rest.
For your separation from God,
From love,
Is the hardest work
In this World.
Let me bring you trays of food
And something That you like to Drink.
You can use my soft words
As a cushion
For your Head.
